Tree Plantation – SDG 13 for SDGs 1, 4, and 5.

Tree plantation has long been a proven activity as one of the tried and tested fail-safes for averting climate change. When planted with care, trees can contribute to the progress of women’s rights and gender equality in both overt and covert ways.

Erratic and destructive climate change pushes communities deep into poverty, resulting in children becoming school dropouts, children and women becoming victims of human trafficking, forced migration, etc. As each UN SDG is intrinsically connected, SDG 13 is directly connected with NCT’s mission objectives of SDGs 1, 4, and 5.

Vulnerable communities, especially women, are disproportionately affected by climate change. Nonetheless, there is strong evidence that educating and empowering girls and women is essential to influence climate action significantly. NCT supports a fairer future for vulnerable communities and rural villages with tree plantations.

Research indicates that extreme heat increases the incidence of stillbirth, and climate change is increasing the spread of vector-borne illnesses such as malaria, dengue fever, and Zika virus, which are linked to worse maternal and neonatal outcomes.

Join us in planting trees in remote areas facing droughts, unpredictable weather, and living in generational poverty and forced migration. When you plant a tree with us, you support the livelihood of women farmers and more. You can help reverse climate change and, at the same time, combat gender imbalances and ensure a better future for children.
